How to become a Hospice Southland Volunteer

Areas where volunteers are needed:
Community
- To help support patients and familites in the community (homes and/or rest homes)
Administration
- General administration duties, assisting with general office tasks.
- Data entry.
Promotions
- Assist at our collection points during our national Annual Street Appeal.
- Ticket Sales for Hospice fundraising events.
- Assisting at events throughout the year.
Day Programme
- Activities and general support – Assisting patients with activities set by the Day Programme coordinator.
- A healthy sense of humour is required!
In-Patient Unit (IPU)
- Meal Preparation – Preparing a lunch time or dinner time meal from the menu, for our patients.
- Housekeeping
Maintaining a clean environment and home-like atmosphere for our patients and their families. - Gardening – Pruning our rose beds and removing leaf litter.
- Flowers – Providing flower arrangements or vases of flowers within the hospice.
- Baking – Be part of a group that provide baking for the enjoyment of our patients and their families.
Hospice Shops (various locations)
- Customer service staff at retail counter.
- Unpacking, sorting and preparing donated items for sale.
- Restocking shop shelves & racks.
- Deliveries and pick-up of items.
