Raise a Calf

Hospice Southland’s Raise a Calf for Hospice campaign is about raising money to support our community, one calf at a time. All proceeds that are raised stay in the Southland  and Wakatipu region to enable Hospice to provide care at no cost.

How does it work?

Livestock

You can either pledge a calf and when they are sold, the sale
price is donated to Hospice Southland. All you need to do is
commit to rearing a calf until they are weaned.

Virtual

Alternatively, you can choose to donate a virtual calf with a one-
off donation of $350.

How to get your calf to sale?

  • We will provide you with a Hospice ear tag.

  • You’ll need to tag your calf with your own EID as well as a
Hospice ear tag so that we can easily identify which calf you
    are donating.

  • In early December, we’ll contact you to advise when your
calf will be collected from your farm and transferred to the
    Lorneville Sale Yards.

  • Sale date is usually early December – to be confirmed.

  • The calf you nominate can be either a Beef or Beef Cross
    Friesian breed.

A thank you from us

A huge thank you to our past donors for your continued support and we would love to welcome new donors.
